TEN motorists were stopped by police on one road as they tried to avoid roadworks.

Due to complaints from residents, Dorset Police No Excuse officers attended Dorchester Road in Lytchett Minster on Thursday.

Within two hours, 10 people were stopped for exceeding the speed limit and most of them told police they were avoiding roadworks on the Upton Bypass.

Police have asked people to be considerate when driving and to keep to the speed limits.

A white Ford Focus was seized after the driver was stopped and admitted having no insurance or a licence and was sent to court.

A black Ford Focus was also seized. The car had recently been reported to police for driving with no licence or insurance.

The female driver was spotted driving back home after work and admitted not having a licence or insurance and her car was seized.

Police said that if you know someone is driving with no licence or insurance to contact them on 101 or do it online and they will target them.
