A GREGGS store in Bournemouth has re-opened this morning following a rat infestation in the area.

The bakery in Old Christchurch Road was closed on Friday while a rodent problem in the rear alleyway was dealt with.

It re-opened this morning.

Meanwhile, a town centre resident told the Echo they had contacted the council recently about rats near the Richmond Gardens Shopping Centre.

In an investigation report seen by the Daily Echo, an enforcement officer for the council said he visited the area last month and found “extensive evidence” of rat droppings at the scene.

He recommended a step-up in the patrols carried out by litter wardens.
