A "SUSPICIOUS" device that saw businesses and residents evacuated in a dramatic scene in Poole on Thursday turned out to be a tracking device.
Police were joined by Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts, paramedics and firefighters, at Holyrood Close where the suspect device was located underneath a car.
A 100 metre cordon was set up and nearby residents and traders were evacuated from the scene.
A small controlled explosion was carried out at the carpark of Makro, after the emergency services were called on Thursday morning.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "Officers were aware that the incident impacted on a number of people and would like to thank everyone for their patience.
"Following further enquiries it has been established that the item was not explosive but a type of tracking device."
