TWO celebrity chefs are giving a boost to a breakfast campaign in support of World Autism Awareness Day in April.

Autism Wessex launched its Big Brekkie campaign to support the national day on April 2 when autism organisations around the world host unique fundraising and awareness-raising events.

Chefs Lesley Waters and Mat Follas have both signed up to support the campaign and each chef will be contributing their own recipe ideas as part of the fundraising pack available to all participants.

The charity is now calling for supporters to join in the campaign by hosting their own breakfast any time in April.

Fiona Hawkins, fundraiser at Autism Wessex said: “This year we are trying to raise an impressive £5,000 and every penny you can donate will help.

"All you need to do is get your friends, family, or colleagues together, decide what delicious breakfast you want to eat, download our fundraising pack and host your very own event.

"Please get involved and join us for this fun fundraising opportunity.”

Corporate sponsor Williams Thompson Solicitors LLP has donated £1,000 to the event to support people affected by autism across the Wessex region.

Suzanne Kadziola of the firm said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the Big Brekkie campaign once again this year.

"The campaign is a really simple concept which allows people to get involved and raise funds whilst allowing the charity an opportunity to raise awareness of autism.

"So often an invisible condition we need to continue working towards better understanding within our communities. This fundraising opportunity provides a fun way to do just that.”
