BRAVE Ethan Burney is currently stuck in a wheelchair after a second operation on his feet and legs.

The surgery has left eight-year-old Ethan in a lot of pain after doctors had to use wires to set his feet in place - which are turned in as part of his condition Aarskog Syndrome.

But despite this little Ethan is still determined to make the wishes of other sick youngsters come true.

More than a year ago friends of the Burney family, who live in Canford Heath, launched the Facebook campaign Ethan Burney’s Wishes after discovering the youngster will probably lose his sight completely by the age of 10 as a result of his condition.

The aim was to make as many of Ethan's visual wishes come true before he lost his ability to see. In December the campaign achieved its main fundraising goal to raise £15,000 to send Ethan and his family on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Disney World and Universal Studios in Florida.

However because Ethan's story has touched so many people there are still dozens of people donating money and offering to organise charity events in his name.

But rather than keep the money for himself Ethan has decided he now wants to make other sick children’s wishes come true.

Which is why 50 per cent of the money raised at a charity football match next month will be donated to four-year-old Jacob Buckett.

Jacob, who is also a huge AFC Bournemouth fan like Ethan, suffers from cerebral palsy.

His parents Kevin and Amanda are currently trying to raise £21,000 so Jacob can have an operation to improve his ability to walk.

So far they have raised just over half the amount but still have a long way to go.

Nicky Kay, who runs the Ethan Burney's Wishes Facebook page, said: "Ethan really wants to help Jacob get his operation - which he needs before he turns five this year.

"It would be amazing if we could make another child's wish come true and help Jacob to walk."

The charity football match has been organised by AFC Bournemouth supporters Gary Trower and Daniel Short, who wanted to do something to raise money after reading about Ethan and Jacob in the Echo.

"You read about these youngsters and it really touches a chord. And they're both AFC Bournemouth fans so as club supporters we wanted to do something for them," said Gary.

The match will see the AFC Bournemouth Supporters take on a team from Morebus at Hamworthy Club in Magna Road from 1pm on Sunday, March 19.

Entrance to the game will cost £2 for adults and £1 for children.
