LOOK up - and see Boscombe's beautiful architecture, community advocates have urged.

Members of the Boscombe and Pokesdown Neighbourhood Plan Forum have launched a social media campaign to celebrate the area's "overlooked" heritage.

Over the course of the next month, a photograph will be posted online each day of nominated buildings and green spaces using the hash tags #lookup and #lookupBAP.

Members of the public are invited to post photographs and details of places they value in Boscombe.

Forum chair Harry Seccombe said: "Boscombe and Pokesdown have a wealth of great architecture and interesting history that is often overlooked. "Many buildings and green spaces in the area have no statutory protection, yet are highly valued by local people.

"Heritage is one of several important themes that the neighbourhood plan will be looking at, and it is important for local people to engage and help inform this community-led process.

"Ultimately, the planning policies will be decided through a local referendum for all the residents of east and west Boscombe."

Students in Avonbourne College's sixth form groups will get involved with the initiative through projects.

Debbie Godfrey-Phaure, CEO of the Avonbourne Trust, said: "Avonbourne Trust is delighted to be able to work with the Boscombe and Pokesdown Neighbourhood Plan Forum team on educational projects which develop our students' commitment to and appreciation for their community.

"The 'look up' project focuses our students' attention on the rich heritage of their local area."

Anyone wishing to get involved can contact members of the forum through their website, boscombepokesdown.org.uk

The site also offers a short questionnaire about heritage and conservation zones.

Members of the forum considered potential development sites in Boscombe at their meeting on Wednesday night.
