AN ANGRY bus driver threw a drunk passenger out onto the street after he was spat at in the face.

The unnamed Yellow Buses driver got out of his cab and grabbed hold of the inebriated man, hauling him off the bus, after the man projected “a bit of DNA” at him.

The incident happened at 1pm on Saturday at Horseshoe Common.

It was filmed by another passenger and later shared on the popular Lad's Bible page on Facebook.

The passenger, who was wearing a grey hoody, got onto the bus and spat at the driver. He said “there’s a bit of DNA all over your face” before he walked towards other passengers.

The driver then grabbed the man by the shoulders from behind and shouted “I don’t take no **** from you”.

He pulled the man off the bus and onto the pavement. He then apologised to passengers for the disruption.

The video has been viewed more than 4.3 million times. People quickly took to social media to support the bus driver’s actions.

One man wrote: “That bus driver is a legend. He stood up for what he thought (and was most probably brought up to believe) was right. You sir, have my utmost respect and I would like to shake your hand. You showed self control (which many of us most probably wouldn’t have) to protect yourself and your passengers.”

Heather McGauchie added: “He’s lucky that’s all he got getting thrown off the bus - well done to the driver staying as calm as possible. Shouldn’t have to put up with that in any job.”

An investigation into the matter has now been launched by Dorset Police and Yellow Buses. No arrests have been made.

Paul Wren, commercial director of Yellow Buses, said: “We are aware of the video that has been posted on social media. The incident was reported to the police and we have launched our own internal investigation. It would therefore not be appropriate for us to comment further at this time.”

Unite regional officer Bob Lanning said: “Unfortunately, spitting by passengers at bus drivers does happen and can’t be tolerated in any circumstances. It is completely unacceptable.”

Incident is a disgrace, say passengers

PASSENGERS in Bournemouth have branded Saturday’s spitting incident as “disgraceful” and “simply ridiculous” after they learned what had happened from the Daily Echo.

Visiting Bournemouth on holiday from Stourbridge were Norma and John Fisher.

Mrs Fisher, 74, said spitting was “absolutely disgusting”.

“It’s just disgraceful,” she said. “I’ve seen people do it to policemen on the tele but never a bus driver. It’s so disrespectful. I don’t even like watching footballers do it.”

Mr Fisher, 76, added: “If he had spit at me and he had come back I would’ve given him a smack. That’s just not on. I don’t like it and I never have done.”

Maria Murphy, a 49-year-old care assistant from Westbourne, said: “It’s really not nice. That’s pretty unbelievable.”

Monika Heryanova, 28, a copy assistant from Bournemouth town centre, said: “That’s a really stupid thing. People shouldn’t behave like that.

“It’s simply ridiculous. I used to live in London and I didn’t hear about that happening there.

“People would argue, yes, but nothing like that.”
