THREE people have been arrested following a dramatic police pursuit which saw a car drive the wrong way up a slip road into oncoming traffic.

Officers attended Leslie Road in Winton just after 2pm on Tuesday, January 24, following a report of a robbery during which a man in his forties was allegedly assaulted, sustaining an injury to his face, before his vehicle was stolen. The car failed to stop for officers and it was reported to have travelled the wrong way up a slip road on the A338 towards Richmond Hill roundabout.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "A short time later, the car failed to stop for officers and it was reported that it went the wrong way up a slip road on the A338 towards Richmond Hill roundabout."

A 45-year-old Bournemouth man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop for police, robbery, aggravated vehicle taking, and driving offences.

A 53-year-old Bournemouth man was arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent. A 45-year-old woman of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of robbery and taking a vehicle without consent.

All three people have been released on bail until the end of February pending further enquiries.
