A MOTORIST was reportedly dragged out of his car during an alleged late-night robbery in Poole.

Dorset Police say the driver had slowed down, after believing a man standing on the corner of Princess Road and Bourne Valley Road was his friend, when the attack unfolded.

It is alleged an unknown man opened the passenger door, jumped feet first into the blue Ford Fiesta and kicked the driver - causing him to drive into a garden wall.

He was then pulled out of the car, it was reported, and further assaulted by two men.

The victim, who says his mobile phone was stolen during the alleged attack, suffered cuts and bruises.

Detective Constable Aston Starkie, of Bournemouth CID said: "It is believed a group of people were stood on the bridge on Bourne Valley Road at the time of the reported incident. A taxi driver also drove past.

"I would urge these people to please get in contact with Dorset Police as they may have important information that could assist my investigation."

The alleged attack was reported between 10.50-11.30pm on Friday, January 20.

A 23-year-old man from Poole and a 29-year-old man of no fixed abode have been arrested on suspicion of robbery offences. They've been released on police bail until mid-April, pending further enquiries.
