VISIT Christ the Redeemer, Machu Picchu and the Galapagos Islands by private jet - it will only cost you £35,000.

Being dubbed the "pinnacle of luxury travel" the Grand South American Journey is the latest offer from Ringwood-based company Prestige Holidays.

It offers guests an "iconic highlights tour" of South America from Brazil to the Falkland Islands then onto Peru and Cuba onboard a custom private jet.

The Boeing 767-300 normally seats 300 passengers - but Prestige has customised the aircraft to seat just 96 guests "in absolute comfort".

Passengers will first be welcomed onboard the plane at London Stansted's private jet terminal on November 6 this year when it travels the 5,766 miles to Rio de Janeiro.

However unlike most normal flights to the Brazilian capital passengers won't be told to remain in their seats for the 13 hour journey - instead they are encouraged "to walk around with a drink and mingle with the other people onboard".

Following three nights in Rio de Janeiro the jet will the travel south to the Iguassu Falls on the Brazilian/Argentine border where guests will be staying at the luxurious Belmond Hotel das Cataratas - the only hotel located within the Iguassu National Park.

During these first five days of the tour the group will be joined "the world's greatest living explorer" Sir Ranulph Fiennes - who will be available for "informal chats".

Then it's across the border and onto Buenos Aries for two nights before heading to the Falkland Islands.

During this part of the trip guests have been warned that "five star hotels just don't exist" but not to worry as the Malvina House Hotel is still an "excellent place to stay".

While on the island guests will be able to get up close and personal with the five species of penguin which inhabit the island and a private viewing of the Falkland Islands Museum - coupled with Champagne and canapes.

Then it's back on the jet for a seven hour flight to Easter Island off the coast of Chile - famous for its 900 Moai stone statues.

After two nights there it's off to Cusco in Peru where guests can explore the city before taking the four hour train journey to Machu Picchu.

And keeping with the theme of the journey the 90 guests will go from private jet to private train as they board the luxurious Belmond Hiram Bingham - which will be rented out for Prestige passengers only.

Then it's just a three day cruise around the Galapagos Islands before heading north to Cuba for two nights before heading back to the UK on November 25.

During the official launch of the trip at the Captain's Club in Christchurch on Thursday, tour manager Gary Bartelings said the concept of travelling by private jet had been growing in the travel industry and Prestige decided they needed to try it.

"This trip is for people who want to spend that much money on a holiday but if you are in that bracket then this is a really good deal at a good price," he added.

Another advantage for guests is that they won't have to worry about things like luggage - someone will collect bring it to the various hotels and there is also not a firm limit on how much guests can take.

With luxury travel experiences an ever-increasing priority for the world's wealthiest, tour operators and travel agents are being challenged to create increasingly elaborate holidays that unveil the very best of what's on offer worldwide - and there's no denying Prestige has done just that.
