A THAI restaurant in Charminster was severely damaged following a fire yesterday afternoon.

Three fire crews were called to AroiDee Thai in Charminster Road after the blaze broke out at around 1.45pm. Another appliance was requested, with firefighters using six breathing apparatus as they worked to put out the fire and clear the smoke.

Station manager Antony Bholah told the Daily Echo firefighters were working with police to control the traffic around the parked appliances.

“We’ll be working with the Red Cross at looking for alternative housing for those affected and the electricity and water boards to make the premises safe,” he said, adding that there was severe damage to the restaurant’s kitchen and smoke damage to rest of the property.

No one was at home at the time of the incident. The cause of the blaze is being investigated.
