THE world’s largest inflatable obstacle course, including a five-storey high slide, is coming to Dorset this summer.

Upton County Park will host the 5km course, called Gung-Ho, which is expected to attract up to 5,000 thrill-seekers.

Participants will hit speeds of 40mph when they take on the 200-ft long ‘Thriller’ slide - the tallest of its kind in Europe.

Cbeebies presenter Alex Winters, who came up with the idea for the course, said: “I am so excited to be bringing Gung-Ho to Dorset for the first time. It is a place I’ve always thought would suit the event, and finally we have managed to get ourselves there.”

When Gung-Ho toured the UK last year more than 80,000 people turned up at 13 separate events.

Organisers say the huge obstacles will be filled with enough air to pump up 100 million footballs.

Alex said: “We have visited some amazing places across the UK and seen how Gung-Ho they can go – now we’ll find out just how Gung-Ho Dorset is.

“I have no doubt the county will be well up for what is a unique, fun-filled event for people of all ages.

“It is a chance for adults to feel like kids again, and kids to show the adults what they are made of.”

Upton Country Park will be the 10th stop on this year’s eleven date UK tour.

Alex came up with the idea of an inflatable obstacle course for all the family in 2014.

Obstacles include a huge inflatable ball pit, climbing wall and foam-filled labyrinth, as well as vertical drops and an inflatable ‘gauntlet’.

Alex said: “We have learned a lot from our 2016 tour, and have added some incredible obstacles for 2017 and made a few tweaks here and there to make the Gung-Ho experience even more exciting and memorable than ever.

“Our Manchester event was the wettest we have had, and we noticed a soaking wet Thriller made things event more exciting for our runners as they zipped down at high speed, so now we have having a watery Thriller at every event.

“We have really turned things up a notch for 2017, and can’t wait to bring the fun to Dorset to give everyone a taste of it.”

The course will consist of 10 obstacles.

Runners must be at least 4ft tall to take part.

The event is scheduled for Upton on Saturday, August 26.
