AS a ratepayer of Poole, I am bitterly disappointed that Borough of Poole is planning to close a further eight public toilets to save money.

I presume the council has no understanding or sympathy for people like myself who frequently have the need to visit the toilet due to personal reasons.

I have suffered this for much of my life and there are a large number like me who suffer likewise.

Our needs are genuine and we have difficulty in many towns to find toilets to satisfy our basic needs. Do they really understand this or is business economics more important to the council than the satisfaction of a hygienic necessity for a large number of people?

Poole is not a Third World town and we should have adequate facilities to satisfy our basic requirements. The Community Toilets Scheme is not a satisfactory alternative. When we need a toilet we need to be sure one is available quickly. Take Sandbanks Ferry for example.

I understand there is no alternative toilet yet the council is proposing to close that one.

Where will I find a toilet there? There are no bushes, but there are in Poole Park and some of us will now have to resort to measures like that in an emergency!

Frankly, I am disgusted with Borough of Poole and hope it will now take note of what is genuine public concern and withdraw these proposals.

Sadly, it seems that a £250,000 refurbishment of the reception at Poole Civic Centre is more important to them than the wellbeing of the people who voted them into office.
