REVAMPED secondary school league tables will be published this week with wide variations expected under the new rules.
Schools will be ranked based on the progress made by their pupils, rather than achievement, with many predicting a shake-up in the placings.
The main performance indicator this year will be Progress 8, which monitors the progress made in eight subjects between the end of primary school and GCSEs.
The subjects include English and maths, as well as other English Baccalaureate subjects including languages and science.
Schools will be deemed successful and will be exempt from routine Ofsted inspections for a year if they score +1.0 or more, indicating pupils have made an average one grade more progress than the national average.
Those with a score of -0.5 or lower will be under the floor standard and will be subject to close monitoring.
Among the top performing schools in the area last year were Bournemouth School for Girls, Parkstone Grammar, Twynham and Talbot Heath.
