BOURNEMOUTH'S daredevil mayor would walk across hot coals to raise money for his favourite charities.

And he'll prove it with an alternative Burns Night celebration on Friday, January 27.

Councillor Eddie Coope will complete a fire walk at the Cumberland Hotel at 6.30pm to raise funds for the St John and Red Cross Defence Medical Welfare Service, the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals’ NHS Foundation Trust Charitable Fund, the Bournemouth Parks Foundation and the Stable Family Home Trust.

Other charity fundraisers are invited to take part in the event, which is being sponsored by the Bournemouth Vision Centre of Southbourne, Just Shutters, ROUTEpr and Wilton Funeral Services.

Participants will be given two hours of training before the walk.

All of those who take part will be handed a certificate of achievement.

The minimum age is 14 years, but there is no upper age limit.
