THE Wareham & District Dementia-Friendly Community (DFC) organisation has received a £250 grant to help fund an Admiral Nurse for the Purbeck area.
Admiral Nurses work with people affected with dementia, their families and carers.
The latest Bluebird Care Dorset Community grant has been added to the £20,000 already raised for the project.
Wareham & District DFC said: "On behalf of Wareham and Swanage Dementia Friendly Communities, I’d like to thank Bluebird Care for their generous support of our project to employ an Admiral Nurse to support the Purbeck Community.
"This is a milestone project which will transform the lives of people living with dementia and their carers in our area."
The total needed to fund the post for three years is £150,000.
Bluebird Care Dorset director Chris Scriven said: "Many of our customers are effected by dementia or memory loss issues and we understand the value of the support that an Admiral Nurse can offer."
