The man and his young daughter, who is under the age of 12, were stuck in a bog off Beaulieu Road.
Firefighters used a mud path and water rescue equipment to free the casualties who were then airlifted to Southampton General Hospital.
A spokesperson for the UK Coastguard could not say whether the pair were injured, but confirmed both were “stable” before being taken to hospital.
“They were stuck in the mud for a while and, especially due to the time of night, there was a possible risk of hypothermia.”
The fire and ambulance crews left the scene shortly after 7pm.
