STAR WARS fans venturing to see prequel Rogue One in 70mm IMAX could be in for a extra treat in the form of a seven-minute preview of Christopher Nolan's next film, Dunkirk.

The Second World War drama, partly shot in Dorset, tells the true story of Operation Dynamo, a plan by the Allies to rescue 300,000 stranded troops surrounded by Nazis soldiers, and stars Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy and Kenneth Branagh.

In the summer Weymouth Harbour was transformed into a star-spotting platform as residents and visitors caught a glimpse of Nolan himself - not to mention the 'Directioners' who eagerly awaited a chance to spot Harry Styles in his first major acting role.

Swanage railway station was also used as a set for the film in which Styles was snapped leaning out of a carriage.

Film fans have July 21, 2017 firmly pencilled in the calendar for the release date of Dunkirk - but according to a source close to production, the film could actually be released earlier – to cinemas that still screen celluloid.

In just under two weeks, Disney and Lucasfilm will be unveiling their first Star Wars spin-off Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which will debut in both IMAX and traditional theatres.

But now another report has claimed that those who attend these 70mm IMAX screenings will be in for one special surprise. Before the film, Warner Brothers will be presenting a special seven-minute prologue for Dunkirk.

When the news first broke that the bright lights of Hollywood would be shining on Weymouth, Cllr Jason Osborne, the borough's spokesman for harbour and tourism said the town is going from "success story to success story" and is putting the town on the world stage.

And filming of the Second World War blockbuster is said to have brought in millions of pounds for the local economy this summer.
