MAY I take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped in this year’s Bournemouth Town Centre Poppy Appeal.

All the Poppy collectors who stood out in the town centre in all weathers, my dear friend Mr Rad Howard who helped every day in Bournemouth Arcade just days after his dear wife Pat’s funeral, Mr Phil Pring who organised the stall in Asda at the Lansdowne for a fortnight and all of his helpers and indeed Asda who support us every year.

Hotters shoes who store our stock every night, St Peter’s church who give us car parking permits for the week and to Annie our lovely singer with her team who entertained in the Square on Saturday, November 5.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Bournemouth who launched the appeal and collected with their daughter on our last Saturday as well as other members of the council.

A sincere thank you to all the businesses in the town who support us and Bournemouth University which collected nearly £800 during the graduation ceremonies.

We collected an amazing £23,331.35 and I would like to place on record my thanks to Natwest Bank in the Square who helped us with all the coinage and Hill View Post Office staff for their support and help with the banking.

Again Bournemouth residents and visitors have dug deep into their pockets and supported the Poppy Appeal so that the Royal British Legion can continue its work to help ex-service men and women and their families to meet their different needs.

Thank you Bournemouth.

CLLR ANNE REY

Bournemouth Town Centre Poppy Appeal Organiser, Bournemouth Town Hall
