POLICE say a woman’s “family history has been stolen from her” after six war medals belonging to her father were stolen during a burglary.

Officers are calling for anyone with information to come forward after the raid, which happened sometime between 1pm and 9pm yesterday, Thursday, December 1.

The thief broke into a home in Damory Court Street, Blandford, taking jewellery and the medals.

PC Matt Weldon, of Blandford police, said he is “particularly keen” to hear from anyone who has been offered items of jewellery or war medals for sale in suspicious circumstances in the past 24 hours.

“I would like to remind residents to be vigilant, to ensure their properties are secure and report any suspicious activity to Dorset Police,” he said.

“The items stolen during this incident are of great personal significance to the victim who has, in effect, had her family history stolen from her.

“I would urge those responsible to do the right and moral thing and return these items.”
