Here's our guide to carol concerts taking place across Dorset in the run-up to Christmas.

1. Pop along to a candle lit carol service at Sturminster Newton Mill on Wednesday, December 21. The service will be conducted by Reverend David Seymour. For more information call 01747 854355, email sturminstermuseum@outlook.com or visit sturminsternewton-museum.co.uk/ 

2. Poole and Parkstone Singers are set to perform an Evening of Christmas Songs, Readings and Carols at St Aldhelm’s Church, Branksome at 7.30pm on Friday, December 16. For the first time Poole and Parkstone singers will be introducing sign language. Tickets are £5 on the door.

3.  The Bournemouth Symphony Chorus and Youth Chorus presents a 'Celebration of Christmas Carols' with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra on Friday, December 23. The evening has been described as "the perfect way the celebrate the season as the big day draws near."  It is scheduled for the Lighthouse Arts Centre, Poole, at 7.30pm.

4. Carols in the Cornmarket will take place in Wimborne on Friday, December 23 at 6pm. Singers will be accompanied by the Broadstone Community Concert Band. A collection will be taken for the Priest’s House Museum, Dorset Youth Marching Band and Wimborne Dementia Friendly Community. All are welcome to attend.

5. Enjoy mulled wine, mince pies and Christmas carolling at All Saints Church in West Parley. The event takes place at the church in Church Lane from 6.30pm to 7.30pm on Saturday, December 17. Just come along - no ticket needed- however there will be a collection to help raise funds for a toilet in the church grounds.  Parking will be in the lit car park at Southfields Farm, 50yds before the church on the left-hand side. 

6. Christchurch Music Centre is hosting a Christmas Concert at Christchurch Priory at 7.30pm on Saturday, December 17, raising funds for the Christchurch Macmillan Unit. Tickets £5 and £3 available from the Priory box office or online at christchurchpriory.org/services-and-events.
