A GROUP of professional boxers landed a fundraising punch to help get little Ethan Burney to Florida before he loses his eyesight.

Eight-year-old Ethan suffers from a rare condition which will cause him to lose his sight completely in the next two years.

For the past year members of the Canford Heath community, where Ethan lives, have been inspired to make some of his other wishes come true - which included taking to the pitch with his beloved Cherries before their game against Newcastle United last season.

Now a new challenge has been set to grant Ethan’s wish of meeting Mickey Mouse and Harry Potter.

Family friend Nicky Kay has launched a fundraising appeal to give Ethan and his family this once in a lifetime trip to Disney World and Universal Studios.

So far a Facebook campaign known as Ethan Burney’s Wishes has raised nearly £9,000 - more than half of the £15,000 target.

According to Nicky dozens of people have been getting in touch to offer support - but one member of the public has decided to take a 15,000ft plunge in order to help fulfill Ethan’s dream.

The skydive organised by Lance Phayer will see him jump out of a plane at nearly 15,000 ft on Sunday, February 5.

Last week Lance organised a fundraising photoshoot at the gym of world class boxer Steve Bendall.

Ethan and his family were invited to the gym in Ashley Road, Parkstone, for the shoot along with Steve, a former WBU World Champion, and 10 other professional boxers.

According to Lance the plan was to promote the charity skydive on social media in order to drum up support and get Ethan to Disney World.

Mum-of-three Nicky said: “It’s great having so many people want to get involved and help with the campaign and we want to thank Lance for his support.”

The AFC Bournemouth superfan is one of only around 12 children in the UK with Aarskog Syndrome and has undergone numerous operations on his feet and legs.

He is among only two sufferers of the rare condition who are losing their eyesight.

And his latest eye test revealed his sight is deteriorating and he will probably loses his sight completely by the age of 10.
