A serving police officer appeared in court charged with assaulting a suspect.
Police Constable Jamie Wallis is accused of common assault on a 30-year-old man in a holding cell at Bournemouth police station.
The alleged incident, which was captured on CCTV, took place on April 3 this year.
PC Wallis, 40, has been removed from front-line duties until the case is resolved.
He arrived at Bournemouth Magistrates' Court on Wednesday dressed in a blue suit and striped tie flanked by two men.
PC Wallis, of Blandford, Dorset, had his case adjourned. He is due to return to court on November 11.
