REVISED plans for the development of a pub car park have been submitted.

An initial proposal to build flats at the site of the former Holly Tree pub in Moordown has so far been rejected by Bournemouth Borough Council officers.

Now new plans for five three-bed houses, with six car-parking spaces, have been put forward.

The proposed homes will be made of brick and tile, and there will be space for a communal bin storage area at the Wimborne Road site, according the planning application.

In June, an application was submitted by the developer Juno Developments Ltd to build nine two-bed and one one-bed apartments with associated parking, access and landscaping.

As previously reported, council officers refused the plans concerned the development would be "out of keeping with the character and appearance of the area".

The report also stated: "The applicant failed to demonstrate the impact of loss of the existing car park for the existing development... likely to lead to sporadic, inconsiderate and illegal parking on roads in the vicinity of the site and this is not acceptable."

When the three storey building was refused on the basis it could overshadow existing properties, an application was submitted in September for two one-bed and eight two-bed apartments.

That application indicated the proposed building had been lowered to two-and-a-half storeys.

Residents still have until Friday (OCT 28) to submit comments on this application.

Ward councillor Beverley Dunlop has called for the decision to go before the planning committee, concerned that, despite what she described as "minor amendments", the scale of the proposed development of flats "remains overbearing", she said.

"Residents behind will suffer unacceptable levels of loss of light into their living space," she said. "Occupiers to the rear will be directly overlooking the private living space and garden of the residents to the rear.

"We should not encourage the loss of commercial space or a community facility."
