THE parents of tragic teenager Jack Gudge have described how their “world shattered again” when they were told no charges would be brought over his death.

Seventeen-year-old Jack died following an incident near the Tesco Express in Winton in July this year.

Four people were initially arrested on suspicion of murder.

However, police have now confirmed that a 24-year-old Bournemouth man has been released without charge.

Three other people - a 15-year-old boy, and two men aged 27 and 21 - arrested following the incident were released from police bail without further action in July.

Jack’s parents Jolene Keenan and Chris Gudge have been left utterly disappointed following the news.

Speaking to the Echo, they said: “As everyone knows Jack was a much loved, admired and respected young man who had his whole life ahead of him.

“As a family our world stopped. But over this past three months we have placed our faith in the justice system, allowing them the time to investigate these matters.

“On Monday our world was shattered again when we were informed that no charges would be brought.

“An inquest is due to be held soon and we hope that during the process we will learn as much as we can about our son’s final moments and the reasons why the CPS reached their decision. As yet we do not know why.

“We cannot express our distress, disappointment or the feelings of absolute rawness that surrounds us.

“We are bewildered and terrified that any person in similar circumstances will experience even a tenth of how we feel now.

“Our boy can never come back.”

After a three-month wait, the family say they are now finally able to bury Jack.

John Montague, senior district crown prosecutor for CPS Wessex, said: “I have advised the police that no further action should be taken.

“In order for the case to progress there has to be an unlawful act. I am of the view we cannot prove the actions of the 24-year-old man were unlawful.”
