WITH a rich voice that belies his teenage years, Bournemouth musician and songwriter Ollins Lande has recently released his debut album, Mustang.

The 15 year-old describes his sound as ‘modern acoustic-based country rock.’ He started writing songs at an early age with one song securing him a music scholarship at Bournemouth Collegiate School. Music runs in the Lande family, with his older brother Jack a member of local duo Soulcreek.

Last year he recorded his first single, Backyard Love Affair and received some fantastic feedback and reviews.

The debut album covers many themes such as unrequited love (Backyard Love affair) and personal loss (When Mustangs Roam Free) other themes on the album include bullying, relationship breakups, partying and hopes for the future.

Poignantly, the track When Mustangs Roam Free is a personal tribute to Ollins’ favourite teacher and mentor who sadly passed away last year whilst visiting family in Australia. Ollins’ way of coming to terms with this significant loss was to write this song.

When the school heard the song, they supported Ollins’ and kindly let him use the school recording studio for a couple of hours every week with a professional sound engineer to further develop his songwriting.

During this time most of Mustang was produced with the remaining tracks being finished at another location this year.

One of the tracks Make Some Noise has already been selected for radio air play on BBC Introducing Solent.

Ollins will next be playing at the Portsmouth Guildhall on Friday, November 11 at 12pm.
