FLOWERS and cards have been left close to a Bournemouth address where a young mum died during the weekend.

Police were called to a maisonette in Harley Gardens, off Vale Road, at 2.40pm on Sunday.

There, they found mum-of-two Natasha 'Tasha' Wake, 26, who had suffered serious injuries.

Ms Wake was pronounced dead at the scene.

Formal identification is yet to take place, although Ms Wake was named by detectives on Monday.

A Plymouth man aged 26 was arrested on suspicion of murder at Hengistbury Head less than an hour later after the discovery of Ms Wake's body.

Armed police and the NPAS helicopter were involved in a search at the beauty spot.

The man, who was carried to an ambulance on a spinal board, remains in custody and is helping officers with enquiries.

A manned police cordon remained in place at Harley Gardens yesterday.

Friends have paid emotional tribute to Ms Wake with flowers and notes left nearby.

One read: “I love you Tasha.

“I’m so sorry - RIP, what a tragedy.

“Shouldn’t have happened.

“In my heart always."

“Love and miss you forever.”

A card signed ‘Ayeisha and Kirsty’ read: “Words can never describe quite how much I love you - I will miss you every day”, while another, signed ‘Stacey and Scarlett’, read: “I will always love you.

“Sleep tight beautiful.”

Another note attached to a floral arrangement read: “Tasha, I wish I could see you to tell you how much I love you.

“My life won’t be the same without you.”

A card propped inside a bouquet of lilies read: “To beautiful Tasha, we are all going to miss you more than you will ever believe! Love you so much.”

Tributes were also paid by friends on social media, with one writing: "She was the most lovely girl going."

Colin Heatherington, who lives close to Harley Gardens, said the quiet residential road turned into a crime scene shortly after lunchtime on Sunday.

“It was almost like something from a drama on TV unfolding in front of us,” he said.

“There were police cars all over the road.

“It’s very sad indeed.”

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Derbyshire, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “A major investigation is underway to establish exactly what happened at this address in Harley Gardens.

“From early enquiries it has been established that the victim and arrested man were known to each other.

“A cordon has been put in place at the address while crime scene investigators examine the scene. Officers are also carrying out house-to-house enquiries.

“I am appealing for anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the Harley Gardens area between Saturday 1 October and Sunday 2 October to contact Dorset Police as soon as possible."

Chief Inspector Mike Claxton, of Bournemouth police, said: “This is a tragic incident which has deeply saddened and shocked the community.

“I am confident we have the best expert team carrying out this investigation and the suspect was arrested shortly after the discovery of the body.

“There will continue to be a heightened police presence in the area while enquiries take place and our local policing team is there for residents, should they have any concerns.

“I would like to thank the community, at this difficult time, for their assistance and cooperation while officers conduct their investigations.”
