WORK to prepare Blackwater Junction for a major transportation scheme starts on Monday.

The £20million project, which has been planned by Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), includes a new link road from the A338 Spur Road to Royal Bournemouth Hospital, more lanes at the Blackwater Junction and a new Hurn roundabout.

Planning is in the early stages, with construction set to commence on the Blackwater Junction and Hurn roundabout in autumn 2017.

As part of the planning process, scrub and tree clearance works on the eastern side of the B3073/Blackwater Junction will take place from Monday until Wednesday, October 12, to enable detailed survey work to be undertaken.

During the works there will be some off peak lane closures on the B3073 to enable safe access to the workforce for the removal of the vegetation. The works will take place between 9.30pm and 3.30am to minimise disruption during peak periods but some delays are likely.

Bournemouth Borough Council will be in charge of delivering the A338 schemes, working with Dorset County Council on the improvements at Blackwater Junction and Wessex Fields.
