WOULD inspiring, pioneering, world class, parks encourage future generations to put down their screens and get outdoors?

A new video from the Bournemouth Parks Foundation aims to get you thinking about ideas for green spaces that would encourage more people to spend time outside.

Mark Cribb, managing director of the Urban Guild and a trustee of Bournemouth Parks Foundation, fronts the video - which features aerial drone footage of the Bourne Stream, the Central Gardens and Hengistbury Head among other areas.

He said that the video aims to 'celebrate the enormity of the green spaces Bournemouth currently has.'

He added: "The Foundation is encouraging residents to imagine what pioneering and progressive parks could look like here in Bournemouth.

"Around 30,000 people already visit the parks and gardens each day and we want to encourage them to get involved with sharing their ideas and become part of shaping the green spaces for future generations.

"In the UK and abroad there are some fantastic examples of modern parks such as the Gardens by the Bay in Singapore and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London.

"We believe that with the support of the community, we can put Bournemouth on that map too."

The Bournemouth Parks Foundation is a independent charitable organisation, founded in January 2015.

Although Bournemouth Borough Council has overall responsibility to maintain and develop Bournemouth's parks, the Foundation works alongside them with the aim to raise much needed funds for improvement and enhancements above what the council provide.

Mark said that the charity aspires to take the parks above and beyond the normal standard, transforming them into captivating spaces.

Bournemouth Parks Foundation has previously secured funding and donations for a number of projects to improve green spaces including raising funds to build a new, larger aviary to replace the existing bird sanctuary in the Lower Gardens.

Money has also been raised to encourage more families in north Bournemouth to enjoy the River Stour and its wildlife and to reinvigorate Kinson Village Green.

The charity also aims to get more people visiting and enjoying their local parks whether they are walking, playing sport, taking children to the play parks, participating in community activities or relaxing in the areas.
