A man who told petrol station cashiers he was just going to the cashpoint to get money to pay for his fuel drove away and never came back to pay, police say.

At around 11.17am on August 18 a man drove a silver Vauxhall Astra into the Texaco petrol station in Sandbanks Road and filled it with fuel.

Police say he then told the cashier he did not have any money and was going to the cashpoint to withdraw some cash, before driving away.

The man is described as white, five feet 10 inches tall and with dark hair. He was wearing shorts and a black and white shirt.

Police Constable Sian Dibley, of Poole police, said: “I am now in a position to issue a CCTV image of the suspect in this case.

“I appreciate the CCTV image is not very clear but I would urge anyone who recognises the man pictured to please contact Dorset Police.”
