A 50-YEAR-OLD man has been left seriously injured after being attacked with a knife in Bournemouth.

The incident in Madison Avenue in Springbourne was called into Dorset Police at 4.56am yesterday morning after the victim was approached by two men and then assaulted, leaving him with serious cuts to his face.

A South Western Ambulance Service spokesperson said that they received a number of calls about the incident at around 4.40am. “It was called into us as a male, reported to be in his 50s, with possible neck and leg injuries following an attack. He was taken to Poole Hospital.”

One of the offenders is described as black, aged between 30 and 35 years old, around five feet eleven inches tall and of stocky build. He has short cropped black hair and was wearing a three quarter length black jacket.

The second man is smaller, of skinny build and aged in his early twenties with short cropped hair. He was wearing shorts at the time of the assault.

Nearby resident David Wright, 52, said: “I didn’t hear anything. A neighbour said that the police had taken a car away, but I don’t know if that is linked to what happened.

“The police officers were looking through the bins, gardens and hedges. We have lived here for 10 years and we have never had anything like this before.”

Another resident, who asked not to be named, said: “The police were knocking on the door at around 5am and shining a light into the windows. I got up to make a cup of tea about 4.30am but I didn’t hear anything. There wasn’t any shouting or we would have heard it.”

Detective Constable Matthew Bradley of Bournemouth CID said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information about those responsible to contact Dorset Police.”

No arrests have been made. Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police on 101, quoting incident number 25:74.
