Children all over the world are celebrating Roald Dahl Day today on what would have been the author's 100 birthday.
Dahl is known for his hugely popular children's books including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The BFG and Matilda.
It is estimated that around 200 million copies of his books have been sold globally, while his works are available in 58 languages.
Pupils and staff at Hillside Community First School in Verwood have got into the spirit of the event by dressing up as their favourite characters.
Each child was encouraged to make a donation to the Roald Dahl Marvellous Children's Charity, which funds nurses supporting seriously ill children and their families in the UK. They raised £125.
