A LIFEBOAT crew were launched to look for a man in the water in Hamworthy just before 6pm on Thursday evening.
Members of the Poole Inshore Lifeboat were launched to look for the person near Hutchings Buoy off Hamworthy Park but on route they were informed that it was a kite surfer who had been seen in the water for some time.
The crew established that it was a call made with good intent as the kite surfer did not require assistance.
They remained on the scene as the person made their way to shore and the lifeboat then returned to the station ready for service by 6.30pm.
