THE Swanage lifeboat was launched to search for a small speedboat with fireworks being let off from it on Sunday night.

A crew were launched at 6.25pm after Solent Coastguard had received numerous 999 calls from members of the public.

The lifeboat quickly found the speedboat, which had four people on board, in the middle of the bay and confirmed that it had been using pyrotechnics.

A spokesperson for the Swanage Lifeboat Station said: "After clarifying that there were no problems with anyone on board and all was well, some strong safety advice was given. The lifeboat then departed the scene to return to the station."
