A MAN has suffered serious eye injuries after having a liquid thrown in his face at a Bournemouth park.

A 46-year-old Bournemouth man was near the skate park at Kings Park around 8pm on Friday, when he had an unknown liquid thrown in his face.

He sustained serious eye injuries.

The offender is described as a man of mixed race and slim build, with a thin face, thin nose and a natural African hair style. He was wearing a long sleeved red jumper and blue jeans.

Detective Constable Jane Millard, of Bournemouth CID, said: “At this time it is not known what kind of liquid was thrown at the victim.

“I believe two male witnesses assisted the victim with first aid at the scene and I am very keen to talk to them as they may be able to assist me with my investigation."

A spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Service said that they were called at 8.13pm on Friday evening. The male victim was conscious and breathing. He was taken to Royal Bournemouth Hospital with eye and head injuries.

Cllr Lawrence Williams, who represents the Littledown and Iford ward which covers Kings Park, said: “I’m obviously appalled of it. It’s certainly something that doesn’t normally happen. We don’t suffer from violent crime. It’s normally very peaceful.

“I hope that the victim makes a full recovery.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the park around that time to get in touch with the police. There are usually dog walkers and a couple of families in the park of an evening.

“I wouldn’t want this to put people off from visiting Bournemouth’s parks.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police on 101, quoting incident number 27:12.
