VIOLENT scenes marred the end of Poole Quay's weekly 'Dream Machines' bike night event on Tuesday evening.

Event organisers confirm they're investigating an incident that occurred towards the end of the popular gathering, and Dorset Police say they attended amid reports of an "altercation."

Eyewitnesses say the trouble sparked following a minor collision between a motorcyclist and an event marshal.

One witness, who asked not to be named, told the Daily Echo: "Quite a few bikes were leaving, some quite loud, one was revving his engine as he got to the marshal and the gate where they leave.

"He stopped quite close to where the marshal was stood and accidentally just touched the back of the marshal's leg with his wheel - not hard, I probably wouldn't of even felt it."

However, according to the witness, the marshal reacted with abusive language, prompting the biker to ride off.

Then, in the ensuing commotion, another motorcyclist was knocked off his bike after being reportedly punched by someone.

The witnesses said: "He went flying and as the bike hit the ground his brake snapped off and it is all scratched. Things got a bit heated and police were called to the event."

Poole Tourism manager Graham Richardson told the Echo: "We are aware of an incident that happened at the Dream Machines event and we are investigating further.

"It would be inappropriate to comment any further at this stage."

Meanwhile, a Dorset Police spokesman confirmed: "Police were called at 8.24pm on Tuesday 23 August 2016 to reports of a collision between a motorcyclist and a pedestrian on Poole Quay.

"Following the collision an altercation occurred between the rider and pedestrian. No arrests have been made."
