POLICE were called to reports of a woman brandishing a knife at an electrical substation this morning.
The woman, aged in her 30s, was said to be threatening members of the public and threatening to harm herself.
She also threatened officers from Dorset Police when they arrived.
The force was called at around 9.10am to the National Grid substation in Holt Road, near Three Legged Cross.
An ambulance and a recovery vehicle also attended, with the latter picking up a police car which had sustained minor damage to its side during the incident.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said the woman was arrested and taken to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital as a precaution.
There were no serious injuries.
“Police were called at 9.07am today, Thursday, August 25, to reports of a woman aged in her 30s brandishing a knife along Holt Road in Wimborne,” he said.
“Officers attended and the woman was detained."
Sara Wilcox, a spokesman for the National Grid Company, said the incident had "nothing to do with the substation" and did not affect its operations in any way.
