You've seen a rainbow before but probably nothing like this.
This picture of a rather unusual arc of red light was spotted in the sky last night.
It was seen over Canford Heath by Becki Ridgway.
According to the EarthSky website, red rainbows are rare and occur when the sun is on the horizon.
Les Cowley of the Atmospheric Optics website says they are created when there is a low sun so that the blue and green of its rays are weakened by scattering during the long journey through the atmosphere.
He says: "The lesson here is that, if you’re watching a sunset, and there’s rain in the air, turn in the direction opposite the sun and watch for the elusive red rainbow."
