POOLE’S Jacob Peters has been selected for a national training camp following his clean sweep of the three 16yrs butterfly titles at last month’s British Summer Championships.

The 16-year-old is one of 80 swimmers aged 14 to 18 who will focus on starts and turns north of the border in Aberdeen.

Next month's four-day camp also includes athlete profiling and education sessions and the chance for swimming’s rising stars to experience a national squad environment.

British Swimming said the chosen athletes were seen as having potential for the Olympic Games in 2020 and 2024.

In the meantime, Peters will be defending his 100m butterfly title at the UK School Games in Loughborough and Sheffield from September 1-4.

Peters, who holds British junior and age group records and has broken 47 Dorset senior and junior records in 12 months, is also targeting next year’s world and European Junior Championships and the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Meanwhile, Oli Cleal struck gold seven times to lead a medal bonanza for Swim Bournemouth at the Plymouth Summer Open Meet.

The 14-year-old used all four competition strokes on his way to a magnificent seven wins in the 14yrs 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle, 50m and 100m breaststroke, 50m butterfly and 100m backstroke.

Will Cleal, 16, added to the family’s winnings with gold in the 15 and over 50m and 100m butterfly, silver in the 200m fly and bronze in the 50m breaststroke.

Jess Richens, 16, all but matched Oli Cleal’s efforts as she won six gold medals in the 15/o 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke and 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle.

Megan Leaper, 16, made it a one-two for Swim Bournemouth as she came second in the 200m and 400m freestyle as well as third in the 100m.

Maddy Warmer completed a medal clean sweep with bronze in the 15/o 400m freestyle to add to her golds in the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke.

Ella-Rose Bowman’s five medals included gold in the 13yrs 50m butterfly, 100m freestyle and backstroke and 200m individual medley as well as silver in the 50m breaststroke.

The Head family won six medals between them, 15-year-old Brad winning the 15/o 100m and 200m backstroke and 200m freestyle.

Sister Charlotte also earned rostrum recognition as she touched home first in the 13yrs 50m freestyle and backstroke gold and 200m freestyle bronze.

Fran Gallimore enjoyed some profitable outings at the Plymouth Summer Open Meet.

She won gold in the 14yrs 100m and 200m backstroke and 200m freestyle, silver in the 50m butterfly and bronze in the 100m freestyle.

Holly Earley won the 14yrs 50m and 200m breaststroke while Kath Baker claimed gold in the 15/o 50m butterfly and silver in the 200m IM.

Issy Hepburn won gold in the 13yrs 200m freestyle and silver in the 100m and 200m breaststroke and the 100m freestyle, butterfly and backstroke.

Jack Halliwell took silver in the 15/o 100m freestyle and breaststroke while Harriet Fish claimed silver in the 10yrs 800m freestyle and 200m IM.
