POLICE are investigating after a diabetic teen's handbag containing her insulin and blood monitor was stolen in a nightclub.

Emma Smith, 18, from Mudeford, who has Type 1 diabetes, was in Cameo nightclub in Fir Vale Road on Saturday, August 20, when the black imitation Chanel bag was pulled from her shoulder between 2.30am and 3am.

Her mum, Jackie, said that her daughter's bag contained her blood monitor, along with her insulin and needles, purse and phone detailing her blood sugar levels records.

Jackie added: "She carries it with her everywhere. It's her lifeline. If she doesn't have her insulin, she will die.

"She never puts it down. It's always on her shoulder and she felt it go. By the time she looked around, it had gone.

"I'm really annoyed. I can go to the hospital and get a replacement, but that's not the point."

A spokesperson from Cameo said: “The safety and enjoyment of our customers is our main priority. We are really sorry to hear about the missing handbag and have thoroughly searched the venue."

Witnesses and anyone with information can contact Dorset Police on 101, quoting incident number 20:172.
