DO you have a photo that shows off the beautiful Dorset landscape?

The Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are running a photograph competition with £500 in prizes on offer.

The team wants to see entries from the AONB and also the South Dorset Ridgeway, also known as the Land of Bone and Stone.

Communications officer Sue Dampney said: “We would love photos of favourite views, places you hold dear, whether you live here or are visiting on holiday. Or photos of great days out in the Dorset countryside – from mini-adventures with your grandchildren, to beautiful romantic sunsets, caught in a moment.”

There will be a digital category for the first time this year.

James Sharpe, the South Dorset Ridgeway Landscape Partnership manager, said: "The judges for the South Dorset Ridgeway category will award extra points for images that capture 'what makes this Land of Bone and Stone special for you', something that captures a special moment featuring you, your friends and/or family.

"It is more about what the picture conveys than its technical brilliance (although we want to see those beautiful landscape shots too) so there is every chance the winning entry will be taken on your phone. It's all about capturing that special moment."

Winning entries from previous photo competitions have been used successfully in many AONB publications and promotional material, helping to capture the mood and beauty of the area, with incredibly high- quality images submitted in the past.

The best entries of this year’s Site Seeing competition will also be included in an exhibition early in 2017.

The competition is open to both professional and amateur photographers.

The closing date for entries is September 30.
