THOUSANDS of people enjoyed an afternoon of music in the sun at the 22nd annual Stompin' on the Quomps jazz event on Saturday.

Music to get your heart pounding, hands clapping, body moving and feet stompin' rang out throughout the afternoon and will continue into the evening at the hugely popular smooth jazz festival on Christchurch Quay.

Many enjoyed picnics on the grass, but there was a wealth of good food available from traders on the site and nearby eateries.

Headlining this year were the band ‘Lola’s Day Off’ bringing there fusion of, rhythm & blues, hip-hop, jazz, and deep funk grooves. Also on the line-up were Not Just Sax featuring the hugely talented sax of Sarah Bolter, Zoe Schwarz Blue Commotion band, and the Taverners Big Band.

Stompin’ on the Quomps is non-ticketed event, although the audience are invited to make a donation, and has grown from small beginnings with just a few people gathered around the bandstand, to its current status as one of the largest festivals of its kind in the country.

Stompin' always attracts a varied crowd with toddlers and their great-grandparents all enjoying the fun.
