LOVING new homes are needed for a host of cats and dogs staying at a Dorset rescue centre.

Margaret Green Animal Rescue has given details of some of the animals currently looking to be re-homed.

Among them are three cats – Dizzy, Bumble, and Malibu – and four dogs – Max, Lawrence, Chilly and Tiger.

Seven-year-old Dizzy is a “lovely girl” according to staff at the rescue centre but she can be “a bit grumpy with new people” until she gets to know them.

Lucy Compton, fundraising manager, said: “Dizzy is quite independent, although she likes a fuss when she asks for it.”

She would prefer to be the only pet in an adult-only home.

Bumble is a “sweet-natured and affectionate” 13-year-old moggy who has lived with multiple cats before so should be able to live with another cat of a similar temperament again. She may also be able to live with a dog.

Staff think she should be fine to live with children, too.

Finally, Malibu is described as an “affectionate eight-year-old girl” who “loves a fuss”. However, anyone looking to re-home Malibu is warned she “moults like crazy and your lap will be completely white by the time she lets you leave”.

She should be fine to live with cats and children, and possibly a dog.

Currently staying in the kennels and looking to find a new home is one-year-old Labrador and Springer Spaniel cross Max.

Lucy said: “He has a very fun playful temperament when he gets to know you but can be a little shy in new situations so he will need a calm, patient home to help build his confidence.

“Unfortunately after being involved in a traffic accident when he was younger, he has been left with no eyesight so he is now completely blind.”

Nine-year-old Golden Retriever cross Lawrence is said to be a “very affectionate, cuddly boy” who will “shower you with love”.

He is looking for a family who will give him plenty of love, Lucy said. She added Lawrence can be “a bit shy” with other dogs at first due to being partially sighted in his right eye and blind in his left following an accident earlier in his life.

Finally, Lurcher pup Tiger, who is nine months old, is looking for a new home where he is the only dog in the family. He can live with children aged five and over but would be better suited to a home without cats or smaller animals.

Lucy said: “He is a fun-loving boy who adores fuss and cuddles. He really hopes that his new family enjoys being on the go as much as he does so they can go on lots of walks together.”
