SHE had a day to remember when she fulfilled her dying wish of marrying the love of her life.

Now Samantha Lockyer’s six children have launched a fundraising drive to help fulfil other people’s dying wishes.

Inspired by their mum’s strength fighting terminal cancer, her children want to show it is never too late to smile or make dreams come true.

They will raise money for the Durlston Ward at Poole Hospital and the Macmillan Unit at Christchurch Hospital, where Samantha was transferred on Thursday.

Her 23-year-old daughter Sian Swansborough, said: “We are all very thankful for what the hospital has done for mum so it’s only right we give back what we can and it may help someone else in the same position as my mum and our family.

“Money could go towards helping other people fulfil their last wishes and I’d love to do more to help brain tumour awareness.”

As reported in the Daily Echo, Samantha, from West Howe, was diagnosed with a brain tumour last year.

She underwent surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy but she was admitted to Poole Hospital last week after her condition rapidly deteriorated.

The 40-year-old, who worked at Argos, Bournemouth, married her partner of 18 years Matthew Hampson, 49, on Tuesday surrounded by her loved ones at the hospital.

In just days, the staff helped transform the cancer ward’s day room into a magical venue complete with banners, balloons and flowers for the moving ceremony.

Sian added: “My mum means the world to me. If we can raise as much as possible for the people who made her day so special and who will help others too, it will make her proud.”
