This picture of a fallow deer at Blashford Lakes was taken by Connie Leicester.
Blashford Lakes is a haven for wildlife lovers. Consisting of a series of flooded former gravel pits, which are now used for drinking water storage and nature conservation, the lakes are surrounded by willow, birch and alder woodland, as well as grassland.
They attract thousands of wildfowl in winter as well as bittern and good numbers of woodland birds.
During the summer, the eagle-eyed can also spot adders, grass snakes, with 26 species of dragonflies also recorded.
