A CELEBRITY interior designer has opened a pop-up shop of luxury furniture items in Parkstone.

Celia Sawyer, who stars as one of the antiques dealers in Channel Four's hit show, Four Rooms, has thrown open the doors on Luxury for Less Pop Up furniture and accessories store in Commercial Road.

It is based in a former car showroom and will welcome in customers for a month until the end of August who are looking for pieces to make their home complete.

Celia, who founded a Knightsbridge-based interior design company, said that pieces available purchase range from chairs, coffee tables, lamps and chaise lounges down to the finer details such as floral arrangements, lamps and pictures.

She added: "We've got a bit of everything. We were only open for two hours on Tuesday night (JUL26) for the launch and we have probably sold a third of the stock in the shop, which is really good. It's promising."

Asked about the items sold in the store and the concept for it, Celia said: "It's great because this is ex-display from a show home so it's priced reasonably.

"It's open for four weeks. In London, where I do quite a lot of work, there are a lot of pop-up shops and they seem to be quite successful"

She said that there is so much empty retail space in the shopping areas of Dorset at the moment, which is sad to see, and wanted to try her hand at renting one of the spaces.

"This was a car garage, which is not very glamorous, so we thought it was a good space and a nice area.

"We weren't sure whether it was the right area for this, so it's a bit of a risk, but we thought that we would rent it for a month, so we quickly paint the floors and walls, and then brought everything in.

"A pop-up shop gives all this empty retail space a bit of life back into it again and I think it's good.

"I just thought that I've got some stuff to put in stock and then I thought rather than do that and hide it away, why don't I put it in stock on display and if people want to buy it, then they can."
