A HOST of fundraising activities have collected thousands of pounds towards the £30,000 campaign for a disabled five-year-old.

Stanley Senior, who lives in Wimborne with mum, Leela, dad Anthony and twin sister, Willow, has quadriplegic dystonic cerebral palsy, which his family say is too severe to be treated with an operation.

Instead, they are hoping to collect £30,000 for a hydrotherapy pool which could be used by Stanley and other local children with disabilities to allow him to have regular therapy sessions.

Among the events held for the fundraising campaign, dubbed Stanley's Hydro House, include a charity garden event organised by seven-year-old William Moore, a Zumba-thon and a disco.

Stanley's mum, Leela, said: "We have been blown away by peoples generosity in giving up their time to help our cause. It feels wonderful to know there are so many people supporting us.

"Three very different events were held but all working towards the same goal to fundraise for a hydrotherapy pool for disabled children in mainstream education."

Leela says that the Carlton Hotel in Bournemouth played host to an evening celebrating the eighties and nineties, which around 80 people came along to equating to £1,100 being added to the fund.

She said that her friend, Hayley Gummery organised a yogathon at the Allendale Centre in Wimborne, which was attended by around 50 yoga enthusiasts and collected around £1,300 for Stanley.

A garden party, organised by little William Moore, took place in the gardens of the Priest's House Museum in Wimborne featuring games, cakes and crafts. Asked about his achievement, William said that he was proud to have raised over £200 for the cause.

The next fundraising event, entitled Bounce for Stanley, featuring bookable sessions on trampolines for adults takes place on Saturday, July 30 at Leigh Park Community Centre.

Leela previously told Daily Echo that Stanley's wish is to be able to perform a backflip in his wheelchair one day.

She added: "If he sees any kind of ramp or bump in the pavement as we are walking along, he wants to go over it in Wilbur, which is what he calls his wheelchair."
