SOUTH COAST double-act Ward Thomas are hotly-tipped as one of the bands to look out for at this weekend’s Camp Bestival at Lulworth Castle.

The twin sister duo Catherine and Lizzy Ward, 22, from Hampshire play the main stage on Saturday afternoon.

They say they fell for country music once they heard the likes of Dixie Chicks and Carrie Underwood.

These sisters channel a very similar line of melodic country pop as those American titans.

Ward Thomas themselves have tasted success in the States, proving you can take coals to Newcastle.

The late Terry Wogan was also a fan, playing songs from their 2014 debut album, From Where We Stand, on his BBC Radio 2 show.

Despite that backing, they didn’t become the massive crossover stars they might have been.

This was partly due to it being a self-released album.

They’re now signed to a major label and all eyes are on their forthcoming second album, Cartwheels, due for release in September.

Now being billed as a cross between Seventies Fleetwood Mac and Taylor Swift, and there is some truth in that - the close harmonies recall Christine McVie and Stevie Nicks at their best and the pop-tinged arrangements are pure Swift - but really it’s more traditional than that, with nods, once again, to Carrie Underwood, Dixie Chicks and The Pierces.

This time, they might just make it massive.

They certainly have the songs and image to do so.

Camp Bestival runs from July 28-31 in the grounds of Lulworth Castle, for more information go to campbestival.net
