With Camp Bestival and the new Poole Harbour Festival taking place this weekend, we take a look at festivals you can still get tickets for this summer in Dorset. 

Camp Bestival

Where? Lulworth Castle

When? Thursday, July 28 to Sunday, July 31

Camp Bestival will once again take place at the majestic Lulworth Castle, set against the backdrop of England’s dramatic Jurassic coastline in Dorset.

With music to tackle all taste buds and much more, stand-up comedy, DJ sets, and a fantastic line up for the little ones, Camp Bestival is a festival not to be missed.

This year's line-up includes Fatboy Slim, Tears For Fears, Jess Glynne, Katy B, KT Tunstall, Squeeze, Bananarama, Arrested Development, Jamie Lawson, Turin Brakes, Mr Motivator and even The Chuckle Brothers. Not forgetting the world's largest bouncy castle! 

How much is it? Adult weekend tickets are £197.50 or £185 for students. Tickets for teenagers aged 13 to 17-years-old are £118, £93 for 10 to 12 years, £45 for 5 to 9-year-olds, £15 for age 4 and under and free for children aged one and under.

Poole Harbour Festival

Where? Baiter Park, Poole

When? Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31  

Dorset's newest family event, Poole Harbour Festival promises to hit all the right notes with a unique blend of the best live music and some of the tastiest street food in the county.

The two-day fun fest on Poole's beautiful Baiter Park offers a full weekend's entertainment for all the family with a stunning bill of the UK's top tribute acts as well as the best local bands. Also on the menu is a mouth-watering array of artisan-produced international street foods, many created using the finest locally sourced ingredients.

How much is it? A family ticket for two adults and two children is £13, early bird adult weekend tickets are £8.50 and children's day tickets are £3 in advance or £5 for a weekend ticket. 

Swanage Carnival & Regatta

Where? In and around Swanage with Sandpit field at the centre of the fun. It's where you'll find the dog shows, country sports, children’s races, bands and displays. 

When? Saturday, July 30 to Saturday, August 1

How much? It's a free event

Not strictly a festival, but Swanage Carnival and Regatta is a major event for Swanage with eight days of jam-packed fun. The procession is spectacular and there is a fabulous family atmosphere with both local people and visitors to enjoy with fireworks, live music, talent show, treasure hunts, dog show and even a fun run. 

Dorset Food & Arts Festival

Where? Queen Mother Square, Poundbury

When? Saturday, August 6, 9am – 5pm

The fifth annual festival, held as always on the Saturday closest to the late Queen Mother’s birthday, follows the successful pattern of previous years. With free entry, 50-plus local food and drink stalls, including the regular Poundbury Dorset Farmers Market stallholders, music by local singers and groups all day and demonstrations by food experts and chefs. Opening the chef’s demonstration kitchen this year will be TV celebrity chef Lesley Waters.

There will be a return of the popular butchery demonstration, this year by Poundbury’s own Brace of Butchers and two new events – The Omelette Challenge & a cheese and beer matching by Hall & Woodhouse.

The music programme is an eclectic blend of rock, folk, jazz and opera, with a welcome return for the North Dorset soprano Charlotte Hewett.

Dorset One World Festival 2016

Where? Borough Gardens, Dorchester

When? Saturday August 6, 12pm – 5pm

Bringing people of all cultures together this fantastic cultural day features a Global Food Village, world music stage, dance demonstrations, exhibitions and cultural displays, kids and youth activities.

The programme of live music, dance and cultural activities spans the globe including Poland, Africa, India and the American continent.

Workshops include African drumming and Bollywood Dancing.

The headline act this year is soul and jazz singer Martyn James. The kids and youth area has been expanded this year with sports and crafts activities, bouncy castle from the Action Van, Rainbow Arts and Bearcat Collective.

Dorchester Cider Festival

Where? Borough Gardens, Dorchester

When? Saturday, August 20, 3pm – 10pm

The Cider Village is back with a huge selection of real cider producers selling their finest drinks, delicious hot and cold food including hog roast, a game bbq, wood fired pizza as well as entertainment for the kids.

Non-stop live music from five top local and guest bands. And for non-cider drinkers, there'll be soft drinks, beer, lager, Pimms and Prosecco.

All proceeds go to the good causes supported by the Dorchester Round Table.

Purbeck Valley Folk Festival

Where? Purbeck Valley Farm, Wareham

When? Thursday, August 25 – Sunday, August 28

Purbeck Valley Folk Festival is a small festival set on a farm on the beautiful Jurassic Coastline. There’s loads for kids to do, loads for parents and loads for the old folkies!

It features outstanding, original young folk, roots and world music. It showcases the young up and coming musicians as well as booking national and international folk acts and a good variety of local music.

You can expect to see the usual Purbeck folk faces at the lunchtime song sessions, Purbeck Rising (bringing new talent), Poetry Slam, children’s area (crafts, storytelling, puppet shows, theatre/games, cinema) and much more.

Situated in the Purbecks, camping is in an idyllic landscape with beautiful views.

How much is it? From £50 a day for adults on Friday and Sunday to £110 for a weekend ticket for adults. Youth tickets are £20/25 or £10/12 for children aged 4 to 11-years-old. Camping’s free with weekend ticket.
