THE air ambulance was called to a crash, after a motorcyclist collided with a bank between Wool and Bovington.
The road was closed in both directions while emergency services dealt with the incident at Tout Hill, near Monkey World and the Dorset Gliding Club.
Emergency services were on scene and there were delays in the area.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said the crash involved a motorcycle, which had lost control on the road and collided with a bank.
The rider, a man, came off the bike and suffered serious injuries.
It happened near Longthorns Farm just before 3pm.
Paramedics requested the air ambulance due to the nature of the man's injuries. However, they are not thought to be life threatening.
The rider is a 50-year-old man from the Wareham area.
The road has now reopened.
